About Us

about forty winks

We started our company in 2010 to provide a simplified, less awkward, approach to bra shopping.


We believe it’s possible to find a bra you love and actually enjoy the process. To us, wearing lingerie you love is an act of self-care and we are here to make that happen!


While we offer expert fittings, we also recognize that you know your body and preferences best. We honor your comfort levels during all of our interactions to make sure you walk away with pieces that fit your needs, life, and style.


We're open daily 11a-7p.

WHO WE ARE

We're Meredith (an art-loving, enthusiastic-sewing Vermonter) and Rachel (a book-loving, long walk-taking Mainer). We met while working at Mint Julep, another locally owned boutique, and quickly realized that our friendship was also destined to be a business partnership.

As we listened to friends and community complain about their bras and underwear, the idea for a welcoming, fun, indie lingerie shop formed in our minds.

10 years, 3 babies and many risks later, we still have big, big dreams for Forty Winks.

MEREDITH, CO-OWNER

(She/Her) - Capricorn

Lover of the arts and an enthusiastic sewer.

As one of the founders of Forty Winks, I strive to give each customer the best service possible by listening and offering gentle and honest feedback.

RACHEL, CO-OWNER

(She/Her) - Aries

Avid reader, lover of long walks and total extrovert.  

I love connecting with my clients with my easy-going, straightforward style of fitting. Here to guide and empower you to find comfortable underthings that work for your body.

SOPHIA

(She/Her) - Virgo

Floor manager, in house illustrator and resident astrologist. Likes to recharge in the sun by the front window. Has crystals on her at all times and will probably ask you what your sign is.

Team fitter, passionate about feminist horror movies, helping customers pick out gifts for loved ones, and putting robes on the store mannequins so they don't get cold.

(She/Her) - Libra
Team fitter, image maker, and massage therapist in training. Part time cozy gamer. Big advocate of surrounding yourself with beautiful things.

(She/Her) - Aquarius

Team fitter, gym rat, and lover of beautiful things.

Excited to support Forty Winks customers in finding something that makes you sing. Outside of the shop, you'll find me lifting heavy things at the gym, tending to my plant babies, and eating all the food.

madeleine

(She/Her) - Virgo
Team fitter, karaoke queen, lover of deep talks, and resident silly goose. Passionate about helping people find the garments that feel like an extension of themselves. Can usually be found wandering through Cambridge with my dog (yes, he's friendly and yes, you can pet him!)

Team fitter and huge fan of 80s music, exploring Harvard square during her lunch breaks, and anything pink.

Loves helping customers find things that cater to their needs and bring them joy.

(They/Them) - Leo

Team fitter and sewer with a focus on precise fit and comfort. Wild about monster movies and the transformative power of clothing.

(She/Her) - Pisces

Team fitter and Phoebe Waller-Bridge wanna be. Can usually be found blasting MUNA in the store, or standing by the window waving at dogs on the street.

Our mailers and bags are made from at least 50% recycled materials and we never use plastic when packing and shipping.
